The 2009 Grand Prize-winning team created and taught a yearlong curriculum on environmental awareness and sustainability to eighth grade students.
Lesson prep time: About 1,100 hours
Content: Consistent with Washington’s Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs) and Grade Level Expectations (GLEs).
Relationships: The team built strong mentoring relationships; most of the eighth graders loved their lessons.
Results: 25 of the eighth graders have applied to attend a new science and math magnet school in their district.
