Algae Sequestration
This group of students is exploring the use of marine algae in the sequestering of CO2 for the production of biodiesel or other fuels. They will be exploring an entire system from carbon capture to biodiesel production, investigating harvesting through electroflotation, as well as clean and efficient techniques in lipid extraction and water recycling.
Impact of Drive-Through Restaurants on Carbon Load
Students are exploring the impact of drive-through restaurants on the carbon load of this planet. By measuring the average carbon exhaust from cars waiting in fast food lines throughout the city of Bellingham, we will conduct a behavioral survey to analyze the feasibility of a carbon tax on fast-food customers utilizing the drive-through window.
